I've been doing a lot of reading and browsing and just general geeking out about Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODDYSEY -- in eager anticipation of getting that swanky new DVD.

Of course, this is a prime candidate for Greatest Movie Ever Made.

I've come across so much cool stuff, it seemed like a good idea to find a place to dump it all, kinda scrapbook style. That way, if nothing else, it's off my hard drive and on Blogspot's.

Not the best place to see this.

Is that the Star Child or is there a bug on the windshield?

A 3-D postcard used to promote 2001: A SPACE ODDYSSEY.

By the way, to the three people worldwide that actually look at this thing: I'm gonna try to be more prolific with my postings than I was in January. If for no other reason, because I've got a stack of cool 2001 images rotting on my computer when they could be on here instead.

The poster for the Kubrick Exhibit's Germans stop. Click it and it gets all huge like.
This was the header of the Kubrick newsletter I received today. The newsletter, which you should get, tracks the Kubrick Exhibit as it makes its way around the world. They say it's gonna hit London this year, and they're hoping for at least two stops in the US of A.

In the meantime, dig Stanley at work.

Arne Jacobsen Flatware, 1957

From the MoMA website (also where I stole the photo):

A minimalist classic, this flatware represents the essence of the Danish modern style and has been in continuous production since it was first designed. Used as the flatware of the crew in Stanley Kubrick's film, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, the futuristic-looking set is sleek, with the handles only slightly differentiated, and the knife blade indicated by only a subtle indentation. The five-piece place setting and two serving pieces are made of matte-finish 18/8 stainless steel by Georg Jensen.

"Wash the dishes, please, HAL."
